Genia Ivashchenko (born in 1973, USSR) lives and works in Barcelona. Her artistic exploration thrives at the confluence of reality and fiction, delving into existential experiences and fleeting moments of realization. Genia's fascination lies in uncovering multilayered, allegorical motifs concealed within the minutiae of human existence, in the pauses, closures, and interjections of life's narrative.
At the core of her aesthetic philosophy is the belief that poetry transcends verbal expression, manifesting instead in audiovisual, kinesthetic, or virtual forms. Guided by the post-medial state of art, she seeks to unearth the connective tissue of the sensually perceived world, blurring the lines between the tangible and the ephemeral, reality and fiction.
Through her works, spanning installations, painting, sculpture, video and texts, Ivashchenko endeavors to unravel and reassemble cultural codes, shedding light on the hidden facets of collective experience.
